It is no secret that well-preserved e-type always attract a dedicated following and command a premium. While this is partly due to the enduring appeal of their classic designs, it is also because well-maintained examples are renowned for their reliability and comfort. This example is no exception, and it presents in a truly wonderful state. It is finished in rare Cotswold Blue with the beautiful factory-fitted sunshine roof and is complimented by a red leather interior. All of the instruments appear to be in working order, and a set of pristine California YOM plates are included.

The XJ6 is a true Jaguar icon and widely regarded as one of the finest saloon cars ever made. It was the result of a bold decision by Jaguar management to consolidate the four saloon models that were then available into a single model – and it was one of their best decisions ever. It is a design masterpiece that set new standards of refinement, flexibility and performance, and it is arguably the best luxury car ever produced.
The launch of the XJ6 at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961 was dramatic. Jaguar PR man Bob Berry was so eager to get the car to Switzerland for testing that he drove it flat-out from Coventry to Geneva, arriving just 20 minutes before the covers were to be lifted. It was soon clear that this was no ordinary saloon, with vivid acceleration, exceptional flexibility and unheard of levels of refinement for such a large car.
